PEDIATRIC FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE · GRETNA NE · IN PERSON + TELEHEALTH
Pediatric functional medicine in Gretna, answers that keep up with how fast life moves here.
The labs came back normal. The pediatrician isn't concerned. And your home still doesn't feel calm. You've done everything right, and something is still being missed.
I'm Dr. Amy Patton . I help Gretna families find what's actually driving their child's behavior, sleep, focus, and gut struggles, and build a plan that fits the life your family is really living. My West Omaha office is about 20–25 minutes from Gretna via I-80 or Highway 370.

- QUICK ANSWER
Is there a pediatric functional medicine provider near Gretna?
Yes. Happy Kid Functional Medicine is about 20–25 minutes from Gretna at 11320 Davenport Street in West Omaha, easy to reach up I-80. I'm Dr. Amy Patton, DNP. I see Gretna families in person or fully by telehealth, and I work alongside your pediatrician, never instead of them.
RECOGNITION
Does this sound like your house?
You're not failing your child. You've shown up, pushed for answers, and tried the strategies. If any of this is your daily reality, something biological is likely being missed, and that's findable.
Zero to screaming in seconds
Meltdowns you can't predict or prevent, at home, at school, in the parking lot. You tread carefully all day and it still happens.
The ADHD meds haven't solved it
You did the evaluation and the prescription. Focus, impulsivity, and big emotions are still running the day.
Sleep that's been broken for years
Can't fall asleep, can't stay asleep, never wakes rested, and the whole house is paying for it.
Eating that keeps shrinking
A handful of safe foods, battles at every meal, and a quiet worry about nutrition nobody has taken seriously.
“Everything looks normal”
Labs fine. Growth chart fine. But you know your child, and your gut keeps telling you something is off. That instinct is worth listening to.
Things that helped… then didn't
Therapy, diets, supplements, sticker charts. Some helped a little. Nothing has created lasting change at home.
NO APPOINTMENT
Three things you can start tonight, free, no appointment needed
Whether or not we ever work together, you deserve to leave this page with something useful. These aren't treatments, they're ways to start seeing your child's patterns clearly, and they make any provider's job easier.
Put protein in the first meal
A carb-only breakfast sets up a blood-sugar rollercoaster that looks exactly like a behavior problem by 10am. Eggs, sausage, yogurt, even last night's leftovers, protein first, then see how the morning goes.
Try water before behavior
A surprising number of struggling kids are running mildly dehydrated, and it shows up as irritability and fog before it ever shows up as thirst. Offer water at every transition for a week and watch what changes.
Start a one-week pattern log
Each meltdown or hard moment, jot three things: the time, what they ate in the two hours before, and how they slept the night before. Patterns you can't see in the moment jump off a week of notes, and it becomes gold for any provider you see next.

SERVING GRETNA
Gretna grew fast. The help didn't.
Gretna has been one of the fastest-growing communities in Nebraska for a decade, new neighborhoods, a second high school, young families everywhere you look. What didn't grow at the same pace: access to providers who have time to dig deep. When your child is struggling, you feel that gap as waitlists, rushed visits, and referrals that take months to land somewhere that spends fifteen minutes with you.
I built my practice as the opposite of that. One provider, 60–90 minute visits, functional testing that explains what standard panels miss, and private messaging access between every visit, so the plan keeps moving between appointments instead of pausing for the next opening. Gretna families usually come in once for the deep-dive, then go fully virtual.
Getting here from GRETNA
Office: 11320 Davenport Street, Omaha, NE 68154

From the Nebraska Crossing side: I-80 east, then north, about 25 minutes
Telehealth: every visit can be virtual, most Gretna families do exactly that after the first appointment
HOW I HELP
The Missing Piece Method™
The families who find me have already done a lot, labs, referrals, therapies, specialists. They arrive carrying folders of “normal” results and a persistent feeling that something is being missed. My job is to find what that is.
Reveal
Map your child's full timeline, back to before the diagnosis, and run testing that actually explains what's happening inside their body: gut analysis, nutrient status, genomics when truly indicated.
Rebuild
Lab results meet your lived observations. I explain, in plain language, exactly why what's happening inside your child is showing up as zero-to-screaming meltdowns, broken sleep, and days that fall apart by dinner.
Rewire
A personalized plan built around the life your family is actually living, not a template, not a generic supplement list. And I stay in it with you all the way through.
The 6-month program, in plain terms
For parents who've tried everything and want one provider to stay in the room until things actually change:
-
4 structured visits with me, in person in West Omaha or virtual
-
Functional lab testing ordered and reviewed in plain language
-
Weekly curriculum: one short lesson, one concrete action step
-
Private messaging access to me between every visit
-
A personalized protocol that adjusts as your child responds
-
A graduation plan so what we build actually holds
MONEY, HONESTLY
What this costs, and every way I help you manage it
You've probably already spent more than you want to add up, copays, specialists, supplements guessed at from the internet. So let me be more transparent about money than most practices are willing to be.
I'm out-of-network, on purpose
That's what buys your child 60–90 minute visits instead of 10, and testing chosen for them rather than for a billing code. I share exact program numbers on your free call, before you commit to anything.
HSA/FSA, payment plans, and phased testing
Visits and labs are often HSA/FSA-eligible. I offer payment plans, and I build testing in phases so you only ever pay for what your child truly needs, never a bundle for the sake of a bundle.
Superbills & letters of medical necessity
I provide superbills many families successfully submit to private insurance for partial out-of-network reimbursement, plus letters of medical necessity to strengthen claims and unlock HSA/FSA eligibility.
The honest limits
Medicaid and government plans don't reimburse out-of-network care. I'd rather tell you that here than surprise you later. If cost is the barrier, ask me about grant resources for families pursuing integrative care. I'll help you try.

NOT READY TO BOOK A CALL?
Tell me about your child instead.
Some parents want to talk. Others want to type it out at 11pm after the house is finally quiet. Both are welcome here.
Gretna families: Tell me what's been happening and I'll personally reach out within one business day with an honest take on whether I can help, and what I'd look at first.
WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING
“Today is our youngest's first birthday, and when I think about everyone who helped us get here, you truly are at the very top of that list. Thank you for your help, your kindness, and your knowledge.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Amy Patton, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC
Pediatric nurse practitioner and founder of Happy Kid Functional Medicine
I'm a pediatric nurse practitioner with over a decade of clinical experience and the founder of Happy Kid Functional Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. I spent years in primary care and developmental specialty clinics watching families fall through the cracks, told to give it more time, try the therapy longer, accept a new normal they never signed up for.
I built this practice to be the provider those families deserved. I trained and certified in functional medicine, I am always seeking out what is new and proven, and I provide root-cause, whole-child care for children with complex neurodevelopmental and chronic conditions, working alongside your existing pediatric and specialist team.
LAST WORDS

The most common thing I hear around week six: “I feel like I have my kid back.
That's where we start, and it keeps getting better from there. The first call is free, confidential, and completely without pressure. Fifteen minutes, and you'll know your next step either way.
With you in this, Amy
